The
Djanogly Visual Arts Center provides a home
for all who are interested in developing their own, personal
artistic language.
We encourage participants to express themselves through
direct encounters with materials. We provide tools and
work methods to develop self-expression via artistic creation.
We enrich the world of the creative artist by teaching
various approaches, themes and streams in the history
of art.
The Center was born 25 years ago as a workshop in the
Katamon neighborhood. For its first decade it carried
out its activities in a bomb shelter.
In 1990 the present Center was established at the initiative,
and with the assistance of The Jerusalem Foundation and
with the generous support of the Djanogly family of London.

The handsome,
large and well-lit structure houses workshops in the plastic
arts: sculpture, painting, photography, video, ceramic
sculpture and architecture.
The heart of the building encompasses a broad patio which
provides space for creative activities and exhibits under
the open sky.
A gallery in the entrance hall houses a rich selection
of students' artwork and provides a glimpse of the artistic
endeavors taking place within the walls of the Center.
The instructors are graduates of top-level art schools,
creative artists with teaching experience.
The workshop courses are custom made for the capabilities
of the participants. They are professionally designed,
and take into account the spirit and character of the
students. Each student receives individual attention and
instruction.
Over the course of time, we have developed and introduced
a wide range of ideas and topics for creative work in
various artistic media and for the wide range of groups
that study at the Center: children, youth and adults,
Jews and Arabs, religious and secular, regular pupils
and special education pupils.
During the year about 1,300 students participate in the
various programs at the Center.
Many of the students continue to study and create in the
workshops over a number of years. Many families send successive
children, when they reach a suitable age, to experience
the joys of creative endeavor at the Djanogly Center.
This pamphlet details the courses and the special programs
offered at the Center during the coming school year.
Best regards,
Tamara Galon (Fogel)
Director of the Center
